Annual Mushroom Hunt Weekend at Longueville House 2021
This year heralds our 20th Mushroom Hunt in Longueville House and is reserved for our weekend resident guests and includes Two Nights Bed & Breakfast with Dinner each evening plus the Mushroom Hunt followed by a rustic Picnic Lunch laid out in the Courtyard.
The Hunt
With the guidance of experienced mycologists, mushroom experts, you can discover the pleasure of this exciting sport here at Longueville House. You will search for a range of mushroom varieties growing here on the Estate. Hopefully, you will pick up some helpful tips on fungi while enjoying the wonderful outdoors and grounds that surround Longueville.
You'll need to don your boots and wellies for hiking around the property. Play it safe and bring waterproof hats, over coats, even a pair of sunglasses may be useful! You will also need one or two straw or woven baskets, a small knife too will be helpful. The mushroom foray takes place on Saturday and starts at 11am. Meet the experts, brief orientation.
Break into small groups and explore the grounds and mushroom sites within Longueville. Later return to the Courtyard where mushrooms are displayed, dissected, and discussed. A light picnic lunch washed down with Longueville House cider is provided to all.
Afterwards Chef/Proprietor William O’Callaghan will prepare and cook for you a banquet of autumn mushrooms with dinner. A fun day out for all and ideal for beginners!

An Irish Thanksgiving - Celebrate this November with Family & Friends in Longueville House!
Thanksgiving is traditionally a time for gatherings at home. The day is spent cooking the turkey, baking the pies, dressing the table, fixing the drinks, maybe watching football, then convening around the dining table with family and friends to express gratitude by way of overindulgence! But after months and months of sheltering at home, why not celebrate it in Ireland this year, letting the professionals take over for a change? Traveling abroad for Thanksgiving does not mean giving up all its valued traditions. You can still have the all-American feast, play flag football, and do the turkey trot, but from a luxurious destination such as Longueville House. This Thanksgiving we are offering a four night whistlestop Irish visit, arrival Wednesday 24th November and departure Sunday 28th. Full board is offered daily and included in price.
With 12 beautifully appointed guest bedrooms, we can cater for groups of up to 20 guests, children included.
Locally guests may also enjoy more extended walks at Doneraile Park or take a hike up Mount Hillary, both within easy access of Longueville House.
For the really energetic and adventurous, there's hiking or downhill cycling in The Ballyhoura Mountains or some wake boarding at Ballyhass Lakes nearby.
